Starwood Hotels & Resorts announced that it will give members of its guest loyalty program free Internet access for stays booked through the Starwood website or app.

The free Internet access will be available starting February 1, 2015 to Starwood Preferred Guest program members who book through any one of the company’s corporate and brand websites, mobile sites, and the SPG app.

An increasing number of travelers, roughly eight in ten in 2013, said that complimentary Wi-Fi is important to them and influences their decision of which hotel to stay at, according to research published by Frequent Business Traveler.

The Connecticut-based hotelier also announced that it was extending free Internet access to clients of SPG Pro members when the stay is booked on the SPG website.  SPG Pro is Starwood’s recently introduced loyalty program for businesses and travel professionals.
