American Airlines Reports Higher Revenue, Lower Profit in First Quarter
American Airlines Group announced financial results for the first quarter of 2018.
The airline reported a net profit of $186 million, a 45% decline from $340 million in Q1 2017.
“Higher fuel prices led to a decline in year-over-year earnings, but we are excited about the future,” American Airlines Chief Executive Doug Parker said in a statement.

American Airlines said late Friday it had ordered an additional 47 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
The deal, valued at $12 billion at list prices, includes 22 787-8s and 25 787-9s. Deliveries are slated to start in 2020 and 2023 respectively, and will make American, the world’s largest airline, the largest 787 operator in the Western Hemisphere.
