JetBlue Airways announced 24 new routes on Thursday. The new flights are centered on destinations where the airline said it expects an increased demand for leisure travel including Florida, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

New routes include six new flights linking Newark Liberty International Airport and Cancun; Montego Bay; Nassau, Bahamas; and Punta Cana, flights between Los Angeles International Airport and Charleston, Cancun, Palm Beach, and Costa Rica.

The New York-based airline said it had very practical reasons for launching the routes it was introducing, namely to raise cash.

“This latest series of new routes – even in the current environment – advances our revised network strategy, returns more aircraft to the skies and doubles down on our ability to generate more cash sooner,” said Scott Laurence, the airline’s head of revenue and planning.

Other new routes will link Fort Lauderdale with Bozeman and Palm Springs; San Juan, Puerto Rico with Raleigh-Durham; Tampa with both Cancun and Richmond; and Las Vegas with Richmond.

All of the new flights will launch in either November or December of this year.
