Boeing announced that Air Canada finalized an order for 33 737 Max 8 and 28 737 Max 9 aircraft.  The order is valued at $6.5 billion at list prices.

The 737 Max 9 is equipped with the latest technology Leap-1B engine, which is designed to improve fuel efficiency and reduce carbon emissions by 14%. The aircraft also includes new winglets and Boeing Sky Interior, which features modern-sculpted sidewalls, new windows, LED lighting, and larger overhead bins.

Air Canada’s order is part of ongoing plans to upgrade its single-aisle fleet in an effort to cut operating costs.

To date, Boeing has received more than 1,900 orders for 737 Max aircraft from 37 airlines worldwide. Deliveries to customers are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2017.
