Hilton Worldwide announced the opening of the world’s first Canopy by Hilton hotel, in Reykjavik, Iceland.

The Canopy by Hilton Reykjavik City Centre offers 112 guestrooms and suites, each decorated in shades of ocean blue and gray volcanic rock. The property provides an LP library with records that guests can play on any of the hotel’s 10 record players.

The hotel hosts a 24-hour fitness center, and meeting and event space that can accommodate 50 participants. Complimentary bicycles are provided for guests’ use.

Two complimentary options are available for breakfast: an artisanal breakfast, in the hotel lobby, or a Canopy Breakfast Bag delivered to the room. The property’s Geiri Smart restaurant features local cuisine and is open for dinner.

Complimentary wine and beer tastings are offered in the evenings.

Hilton said that its new Canopy brand will incorporate five main elements into the design of each hotel, namely: great neighborhoods, market-driven approach, comfort and design, more included value, and a “positively yours” culture.  Canopy by Hilton hotels will offer local food and drinks at each property, as well as art from the respective local areas, and Hilton says that “no two Canopy hotels will be the same.”
