Marriott Sets Expiration Rules to Rewards Program
Marriott announced significant changes to its rewards program and how long points will be retained.
Members of its Marriott Rewards program who have no qualifying activity in a 24-month period will forfeit all of their accumulated points. The new policy goes into effect on February 1, 2016
Qualifying activities include: making a stay at any of the over 3,800 participating Marriott properties worldwide; making a purchase through a Marriott Rewards credit card; earning points with a Marriott program partner; purchase points; and holding a qualifying meeting or event through the Rewarding Events program.
Activities that do not count towards maintaining an active status include: gifting or transferring points (although converting points to miles or miles to points do qualify); receiving points as a gift or transfer; and earning points through social media programs.
