Asiana Airlines to Begin Da Nang Service

Asiana Airlines, a member of the Star Alliance, is scheduled to begin flights between Seoul’s Incheon Airport, the carrier’s hub, and Da Nang International Airport on December 14. Da Nang is one of Vietnam’s key industrial cities.
Asiana will operate the flights twice weekly using Airbus A321 aircraft. The service is currently scheduled to run through March 24, 2012.

The U.S. Department of State, subsequent to the reporting of the results of the presidential election in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, has issued a travel alert.
The Department of State advises that since U.S. Embassy employees are currently restricted from travel outside of Kinshasa’s Gombe neighborhood, their ability to provide emergency assistance to U.S. citizens may be compromised. Air China to Launch Direct Flights Between London Gatwick and Beijing

Air China, a member of the Star Alliance, will begin direct flights between London Gatwick and the carrier’s Beijing hub starting May 2, 2012.
Air China will operate the flights four times weekly using A330-200 aircraft.  The new flights will be in addition to Air China’s current London Heathrow service.

American Airlines will unveil a new first-class Flagship Suite when it takes delivery of 10 new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft during 2012 and 2013. London is scheduled to be the first destination using the new aircraft.

Seattle-based travel technology company Yapta’s service for tracking airfares and refund alerts has been released as a free iPhone application, Yapta Mobile.
The app alerts users in real time when airfare prices fall below a pre-determined rate and also lets users know if they’re due a credit when pre-booked ticket prices fall. Yapta Mobile is available from the Apple iTunes Store.

Boeing Makes 777 Final Assembly and Delivery More Eco-Friendly

Boeing has discovered ten new ways to reduce its environmental impact during the final assembly and delivery stages of its 777 aircraft. The initiatives are predicted to reduce C02 emissions by 5.5 million pounds and jet fuel by 300,000 gallons annually.
