Delta Air Lines announced financial results for first quarter of 2024.

The Atlanta-based airline was the first U.S. carrier to announce second-quarter results and reported a net income of $288 million on $12.6 billion in revenue, a 6% increase over the same period in 2023.

CEO Ed Bastian said that bookings for both leisure and business travel continue to be strong as the peak summer travel season approaches.

“We anticipate continued strong momentum for our business, and in the June quarter, we expect to deliver record revenue,” he said in a statement provided to Frequent Business Traveler and The Travelist.

The airline saw record revenue and load factors from domestic travel in the March quarter record, growing 3% year-over-year.

Bastian on an earnings call on Wednesday said that  “mainline cancellations [were] down 85%, and added that the company was “setting new records for completion factor in both the fourth quarter and the first quarter.” He also said that the airline had continued “to set new records with our remuneration from American Express,” although he did not specify an amount.

Delta announced new and enhanced benefits for holders of Delta-branded American Express cards earlier in the year and Bastian said that the customer response has been “very positive.”
