American Airlines announced plans to elevate passenger comfort and the passenger experience, cut down on waste, boost style, and improve passenger sleep.

The in-flight sleep experience is getting revamped with new pillows, bedding, and sleepwear, all to become available Memorial Day weekend this year ahead of the start of the rollout of its redesigned and highly anticipated Flagship Suites later in the year. The new Flagship Suites will join the trend other airlines have been following with the addition of privacy doors.

The bedding will include dual-sided pillows in Flagship First and Flagship Business that offer both cool-touch and traditional fabric options. Other items, including lumbar pillows, throw blankets, premium duvets, and fleece blankets, will be available across all premium cabins from a variety of brands and will be developed with a focus on sustainability, including recycled materials from the John Horsfall’s Re-Thread collection.

Passengers in Flagship First on international flights will continue to receive pajamas, while those in the Flagship Business cabin on all international flights will now receive slippers.

In addition, amenity kits in Flagship First and Flagship Business will be more frequently refreshed and will feature offerings from a variety of companies who manufacture moisturizer, lip balm, and other traditionally included products.

The program will start off with an amenity kit featuring products from Thirteen Lune and each kit will be available for a limited time only.

Finally, American will offer Flagship passengers brand new menus and wine selections that will include dishes with diverse flavors inspired by the carrier’s global destinations.

“Travelers jet-setting to one of American’s new summer destinations like Nice, Naples or Copenhagen will be able to relish delicious offerings like macadamia-crusted sea bass with citrus cream sauce, quinoa, toasted orzo and haricots verts,” the airline said in a statement provided to Frequent Business Traveler and The Travelist. “In addition to these dishes, pan-roasted chicken, tortelloni pasta and other offerings, including new preorder options, will continue to roll out this spring for business class on flights from the US to international destinations.”
