JetBlue Profit Soars in Fourth Quarter

IMGP5613 (1)JetBlue Airways announced financial results for the fourth quarter of 2017.

The New York-based airline said its fourth-quarter net income rose to $672 million, a 291% increase from $172 million in Q4 2016.

The New York-based airline reported fourth quarter revenue of $1.8 billion, a 12.5% increase from last year’s $1.6 billion.

The carrier said that passenger revenue per available seat mile, or Prasm, increased by 0.8% year-over-year for the fourth quarter, up to 11.28 cents.

The airline’s passenger traffic in the fourth quarter was 11.52 billion revenue passenger miles, or RPMs, up 3.1% from 11.19 billion RPMs in the fourth quarter of 2016. Capacity also rose, by 5.1% year-over-year, up to 13.88 billion available seat miles, or ASMs, from 13.2 billion ASMs in 2016.

Meanwhile, passenger load factor in the fourth quarter decreased by 1.6 percentage points, down to 83.1% from 84.7% in the same period during the previous year.
