My breakfast at the hotel’s lobby lounge consisted of an egg white omelet with spinach and cheese, with a side of hash browns, cooked in a small circular shape resembling a traditional Jewish latke. The omelet was delicious, and the hash browns evoked memories of my childhood days.

My colleague and breakfast companion, Jonathan Spira, and I indulged in the hotel’s signature Allain Milliat merlot red grape and quince apple juices, two extraordinarily sweet and sumptuous drinks that had us yearning for more.

For dinner, we once again ate at the hotel’s restaurant, the Lounge, and shared various small plates. We started with a delicious lobster macaroni and cheese and accompanied it with a small side salad. These were followed by the restaurant’s fishwich sliders, something new to my palate but which, with a side of French fries, were just as tasty. We ended the meal with the Ritz-Carlton cake, a slice of decadent chocolate cake served with a shot of Bailey’s Irish Cream. Dinner was the only time that I had to question whether I was in a Ritz-Carlton as the service was a bit rough around the edges and did not reflect the brand’s standard.DSC_0917

BOTTOM LINE

The Ritz-Carlton Westchester is a handsome establishment, located in a beautiful part of New York State. The vistas afforded from the upper floors are breathtaking, and the spa service and dining approach perfection. If my travels take me again to White Plains, I certainly know where I will stay.
