Motorola and Verizon Wireless Unveil Droid 4

Verizon Wireless and Motorola Mobility announced the Droid 4 smartphone.

The new Android 2.3.5 (with planned upgrade to Android 4.0) device features a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 4″ HD touchscreen, dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, and an eight megapixel camera with 1080p HD video capture.  It also has a front-facing camera. mobile hotspot capabilities and 4G LTE connectivity.

For mobile workers, the Droid 4 also has the ability to be paired with the Lapdock 500 and its 14″ display and full-sized keyboard.  The smartphone comes preloaded with Citrix Receiver for Android.

An HD output also allows the device to be used with HDTVs for presentations.  Security capabilities include FIPS 140-2 encryption for e-mail, calendar, and contacts.
