Apple introduced a second-generation iPhone SE on Wednesday. The new smartphone carries a price tag of $399,

The new SE closely resembles the iPhone 8, which it now replaces.  The iPhone 8 sold for $449.  The SE has a faster processor and the same price point as the previous-generation SE, which was discontinued 19 months ago.

The new iPhone SE goes on sale Friday for delivery on April 24.  There will be almost no in-store sales given that most Apple stores are closed across the globe amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

While the new SE looks similar to the iPhone 8, with a traditional home button with an embedded fingerprint sensor and a 4.7” display, it has the same A13 Bionic microprocessor as in the top-of-the-line iPhone 11. It has a single 12-megapixel rear camera that can capture 4K video and 64 GB of storage.

What buyers won’t see on the new SE are an ultra-wide or telephone lens, facial recognition instead of the fingerprint sensor, night mode for taking better pictures in the dark, and a headphone port.
