Amtrak to Offer ‘Share Fares’ Discount Pricing for Group Travel

Amtrak announced a new “Share Fares” group discount program on Wednesday.

The tiered offering will give travelers a discount of 35% when traveling in groups of four and somewhat less in smaller groups.

The first passenger would pay full price, the second gets a 15% discount, the third a 60% discount, and the fourth a 70% discount.

The Share Fares program is available on virtually all Amtrak trains with the exception of the Acela Express and Auto Train, and includes Amtrak Northeast Regional service from Boston to Washington, D.C., the California Zephyr, Capitol Limited, City of New Orleans, Empire Builder, Southwest Chief, Coast Starlight, Lake Shore Express, and Silver Star, among others.

Travelers must make reservations at least three days in advance. The promotional code for the program is V291.
