IMG_0722Apple released iOS 11.2, an updated version of the iOS 11 operating system, adding several significant new features including Apple Pay Cash and faster wireless charging for the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X.

The iOS 11.2 release is the second major update to the iOS 11 mobile operating system for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Apple Pay Cash allows users to send and receive money through the iMessage app or by using Siri. Funds are sent from a linked credit or debit card while funds received are stored on an Apple Pay Cash card that Apple automatically adds to in the Wallet app. The card can be used for purchases or funds may be transferred to a bank account.

The operating system also adds faster 7.5W wireless charging speeds for the new Apple 8, 8 Plus, and X iPhones, which were limited to half that speed at launch. It also includes multiple fixes such as one for a bug in the Calculator app that caused some entries to be ignored, yielding incorrect results.

Meanwhile, when released, watchOS 4.1 will add support for Apple Pay Cash as well as for streaming music and a new Radio app to the Apple Watch Series 3. It will also add GymKit support that will enable the user to synchronize fitness data to the Health app with GymKit-compatible fitness equipment such as treadmills, ellipticals, and indoor bikes.
