Delta Announces Record Summer Operational Figures for 2015
Delta Air Lines announced operational figures for its summer flight season. The airline period runs from June 4 through August 17.
The Atlanta-based carrier said it had broken multiple operational records over the period during which the total number of daily mainline flights was up 10% year over year, with an average of 3,043 daily departures.
Over the 74-day period, the airline said that it had had a completion factor of 100% on 21 days, compared to 16 last year. Completion factor means days without a cancelled flight. In addition, the airline went almost 140 hours, from the evening of June 25 through the afternoon of July 1, without a single cancellation. The previous record was 80.3 hours, set last June.
Delta also set a record for mainline departures made on a single day, 3,202, on August 17. Another record was for the number of passengers enplaned on a single day, system wide, including Delta Connection flights: 614,159 on July 31.
On-time departures during the summer flight season were at 96.72%, a record that beat last year’s record of 96.69%. The airline also went 45 days this summer without any maintenance cancellations whatsoever.
