American Airlines announced a new bonus mile promotion for the coming year on Monday.

The new promotion will reward passengers who are members of American’s AAdvantage frequent flyer program as well as US Airways’ Dividend Miles program who purchase either a first- or business-class ticket for travel in the calendar year 2015.  The bonus will be based on miles flown, the fare type purchased, and the member’s elite status within the program.

Eligible flights for AAdvantage members include those on all American and US Airways flights including codeshares between the two airlines as well as American- or US-marketed, partner-operated flights on airlines such as British Airways, Iberia, Japan Airlines, and Qantas.  The list of eligible flights for Dividend Miles includes all AA or US-marketed and operated flights.

The bonus ranges from 250 miles for program members without status who purchase first or business-class tickets on a medium- or short-haul flight to 12,000 miles for members with either Executive Platinum of Chairman’s Preferred status who purchase a long-haul, full-fare business- or first-class ticket.
