Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts announced it will open a new property in the southern port city of Kochi, India, towards the end of this year. The Mövenpick Hotel Kochi will be located approximately 4 miles (six kilometers) from the city center and about 16 miles (25 kilometers) from Cochin International Airport.

The property will have 167 guestrooms, as well as several dining venues, including a Pan-Asian establishment, an Indian restaurant specializing in regional Keralite cuisine, and a sky lounge bar. A pool, fitness center, and multi-level spa with a yoga studio and hammam will also be located on the premises.

The hotel will also house various meeting and event spaces, including an executive club lounge, separate meeting rooms, and a banquet hall capable of accommodating up to 500 guests.

Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts is based in Switzerland, and currently operates more than 90 luxury hotels in 26 countries worldwide. The Mövenpick Hotel Kochi will be the second Mövenpick property to open in India, after the Mövenpick Hotel Bangalore, which opened in 2011. The hotelier also plans to open the Mövenpick Dharamshala Spa and Resort in Dharamshala, India, in 2015.
