Hotel Palomar DC, Washington, D.C. – Review
After awakening from my nap, it was time to freshen up. In the bathroom, an above the counter sink had neatly arranged hand towels and bath necessities on either side of the marble vanity. While there was nothing special about the combination shower and bath, the water pressure and temperature were quite satisfactory.
ROAD WARRIOR SUPPORT
After showering and drying off (flashy leopard print bathrobes were provided), I sat down to do some work. Jutting out from beneath what appeared to be a separate desk space next to the TV, was a standalone glass topped oval table. This table served nicely as a work surface, although if one desires a slightly higher surface on which to do work, the table can be wheeled away to free up the higher space next to the TV.
The ergonomic desk chair, capable of being raised or lowered depending on which workstation one is using, was certainly comfy enough for long periods of sitting at the desk. Wi-Fi Internet access was complimentary, fast, and trouble free.
The Hotel Palomar DC is a convenient venue to host gatherings, and provides over 10,000 square feet (929 square meters) of meeting and event space that may be utilized for business events, social happenings, or private dining.
WELLNESS
For those looking to stay in shape, the property hosts a 24-hour fitness center, as well as a heated outdoor pool, both located on the second floor of the hotel. Treadmills and elliptical machines face windows that offer views of the pool and surrounding deck, and while taking a dip seemed enticing, the weather, time of year, and the fact that the pool was covered with a tarp all contributed to me being unable to partake in such an activity.
Each guestroom is supplied with a yoga mat (hiding in the closet with the leopard print bathrobes) for those who may want to add some downward-facing dog into their business trip while in the privacy of their own room.
