WestJet announced the launch of WestJet Plus, a new tier of premium seating located in the first three rows of its Boeing 737 aircraft.  Passengers who book a seat in Plus will have access to priority security screening lines when and where available at airports, as well as priority boarding and dedicated access to overhead bins.

The new section also offers passengers extra legroom, with 36” of pitch, although Plus seats on flights operated by WestJet Encore do not have the additional room.  Plus passengers also have a greater baggage allowance, with two free checked bags.

WestJet Plus passengers also receive a complimentary food selection and alcoholic beverages from WestJet’s in-flight menu.  In addition, customers who book in Plus can make changes and cancel flights without any fees.

Earlier this month, WestJet launched a codeshare agreement with China Southern Airlines.
