Brazilian airline GOL Linhas Aereas Inteligentes and Italian carrier Alitalia announced plans for a codeshare agreement.  Initially, under the planned codeshare, Alitalia will be allowed to place its code on select GOL flights.

Additionally, the two airlines plan to offer members of GOL’s Smiles loyalty program the ability to earn and redeem miles on eligible flights operated by the two carriers.

GOL requested permission from the both the Italian and Brazilian governments to implement the codeshare procedures with Alitalia.

Gol recently announced an expansion of its relationship with Delta Air Lines.  Under the expansion, GOL can place its code on Delta-operated flights from Brasilia to Atlanta.
