US Airways Upgrades Dividend Miles Benefits

US Airways, a member of the Star Alliance, has upgraded the technology it uses to process upgrades.  Going forward, the new system will check for available upgrades for “preferred” members of its Dividend Miles frequent flyer program several times a day.

The same upgrade windows will continue to apply, i.e. if you are Silver it’s two days prior to departure, Gold three days, Platinum five days, and for Chairman’s it’s seven.

In addition, in the event that an upgrade is unavailable, the airline promises to tell flyers what the reason was although it did not elaborate.

In addition to the technology upgrade, US Airways is currently offering a 100% bonus on purchased miles through the end of this month.  Anyone who has been a member of Dividend Miles for more than 12 days is eligible and you can purchase up to 50,000 miles (which would yield 100,000 miles with the bonus).
