The first “Covid-19-free” flight between New York and London landed Tuesday morning at Heathrow Airport.  The flight was operated by United Airlines and every person on board took a rapid coronavirus test immediately prior to boarding and tested negative.

The United States reported 102,830 new cases on Wednesday according to figures from Johns Hopkins University, the first time the new daily case figure crossed that barrier. The number of new daily cases is up 51% over the past days.  Five states – Maine, Minnesota, Indiana, Nebraska and Colorado – also set single-day case records.

United Airlines Modifies Stance on Flight Attendants Made Redundant by Foreign Base Closures

United Airlines, which announced in June it would close its flight attendant bases in Frankfurt, Hong Kong, and Tokyo and won an arbitration case with the Association of Flight Attendants, which represents United’s workers, in September, has agreed to modify its stance slightly concerning the affected workers.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a nationwide lockdown that will go into effect on November 5 in an effort to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
The British prime minister announced the plan at a news conference Saturday.
