Delta to Launch Philly-London Service in 2015

Delta Air Lines announced it will begin new daily, non-stop service between Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and London, England next spring.
Flights will depart Philadelphia International Airport at 7:04 p.m. and arrive at London Heathrow at 7:30 a.m. local time. From London, flights will depart at 12:30 p.m., and arrive in Philadelphia at 4:01 p.m.
Delta will operate the flights using a Boeing 757-200.  The service will commence on April 8, 2015.

Oetker Collection, a hotel operator, announced it will take over management at the Lanesborough hotel in London.  The property, which has been closed and undergoing extensive renovations since 2013, is expected to re-open in spring 2015.
The Lanesborough will be the company’s first property in the United Kingdom.

New Aloft Hotel Opens in Liverpool

Starwood announced the opening the Aloft Liverpool in England.  The hotel is the second Aloft property to be located in the United Kingdom, and the fourth in Europe.
The property is situated in the 110-year-old Royal Insurance Building on the corner of Dean Street and North John Street in central Liverpool.

U.K. Raises Terrorism Threat Level to ‘Severe’

The British government warned citizens that it sees “a greater threat to our security than we have seen before” and raised the terrorism threat level to “severe.”
Previously, the level was set at “substantial.”  The new level means that “a terrorist attack is highly likely, although there is no intelligence to suggest that one is imminent,” said Theresa May, the country’s home secretary.

Inmarsat to Offer EU-Wide In-Flight Internet Services

Inmarsat, a British satellite telecommunications company that provides mobile voice and data services, announced plans Thursday to build a combined satellite/air-to-ground network that will support high-speed in-flight Internet across the European Union.
The satellite is expected to be delivered for launch towards the end of 2016, so the new in-flight Internet services will begin to appear in 2017.  British Airway is reportedly in talks to become the launch customer.
