The TSA’s PreCheck trusted traveler program will soon be in place at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The Transcontinental Flight Turns 100

The transcontinental flight, or transcon, turned 100 today.  The Vin Fiz Flyer (pictured), a Wright EX biplane, was named after a grape-flavored soft drink of the time.  It departed Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn at 4:30 p.m. on September 17, 1911 and landed in Long Beach, California on December 10.  It was piloted by Calbraith Perry Rodgers, who navigated across the U.S. by following a train, the Vin Fiz Special, which …

United to Launch Service Between Washington Dulles and Doha, Qatar

United Airlines, a member of the Star Alliance, plans to begin flights between Washington Dulles International Airport and Doha, Qatar.
The daily service, via Dubai, UAE, is scheduled to commence on May 1, 2012, pending government approval. United will fly the new route using 269-seat Boeing 777 aircraft, with lie-flat seats and on-demand entertainment  in first- and business-class cabins.
