Marriott International has announced that it plans to double its number of hotels in the Caribbean and Latin America by 2017. The chain’s expansion would add approximately 14,000 jobs in the region.
Marriott currently has 35 hotels under development in the Caribbean and Latin America, including the Ritz-Carlton Aruba, JW Marriott Cusco, and Port-au-Prince Marriott Hotel.

When the new JW Marriott Marquis Dubai opens in the fourth quarter of this year, it will be the world’s tallest hotel building at 1,164 feet (355 meters).

Six hotel companies have launched the new hotel search engine Roomkey.com, which provides search and direct booking capabilities for U.S. travelers.
Choice Hotels International, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Hilton Worldwide, Marriott International Inc., InterContinental Hotels Group and Wyndham Hotel Group partnered to create the new site. Following its launch, Roomkey is to expand to other English-speaking countries and to add features such as independent reviews.
