Marriott to Eliminate Plastic Straws and Stirrers

Marriott International announced it will soon remove plastic straws and stirrers from its hotels across the globe as well as at its corporate headquarters.
The plan, which involves over 6,500 properties, will be fully in place by July 2019. The hotelier says this will eliminate the use of over one billion plastic straws per year as well as 250,000 plastic stirrers.

Amazon.com announced a partnership with Marriott International through which the hotelier will place Amazon Echo units with a special version of the Alexa virtual assistant, Alexa for Hospitality, in guestrooms in select Marriott hotels.
