American Airlines announced the beginning of a new codeshare agreement with LAN Colombia.  The agreement will provide American Airlines customers connecting service in Colombia, as well as offer LAN passengers access to new destinations in the U.S.

American Awarded New Los Angeles-São Paulo Route

American Airlines announced it was awarded a new route between Los Angeles and São Paulo, Brazil, by the U.S. Department of Transportation.  The service is pending government approval.
Currently, American serves Brazil from Miami, New York, and Dallas/Fort Worth.  It offers over 800 flights weekly to 49 cities throughout Latin America.
The airline hopes to be granted approval to fly from Chicago to São Paulo by fall of 2014.
