London Gatwick Reopens After IT Failure Shuts Down Operations

London Gatwick Airport is recovering from an IT failure that caused a multi-hour shutdown of the airport.
Flights were suspended for nearly two hours, after a power outage caused an IT meltdown in its air traffic control systems.
Over two dozen flights were diverted to other airports and eight were cancelled.
The airport is urging passengers to check with their airlines before proceeding to the airport.

The U.K. Information Commissioner’s Office said Monday that British Airways had been fined £183 million ($222 million) for a website failure that compromised the information of 500,000 customers.
