Workers at Major German Airports Plan Strike for Wednesday, Numerous Flight Delays and Cancellations Expected

Airport workers at Germany’s biggest airports are planning to go on strike this week and travelers will pay the price with the disruptions that will follow.
The strike will take place Wednesday at airports in Frankfurt, Munich, Düsseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, and Dortmund, and partially in Hannover. Workers are demanding a 6% wage increase.

The Moxy Munich Airport has 252 guestrooms, each outfitted with what the brand calls sound-reducing walls, as well as 42” LCD TVs, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Each room also has a floor-to-ceiling art piece, and glass shelving and open closets.

Lufthansa 2015 Profit Up Thanks to Lower Fuel Costs

Lufthansa announced financial results for 2015.
The German flag carrier’s net profit rose to €1.7 billion ($1.93 billion) from €55 million in 2014, which had ben heavily impacted by several one-time items. The airline’s loss in the fourth quarter fell to €50 million from a €427 million loss a year earlier.
Lufthansa’s adjusted earnings before interest and taxes rose 55.2% to €1.82 billion. Sales were up 6.8% to €32.1 billion.

Lufthansa announced that it plans to launch 11 new routes this summer from Munich and Frankfurt.
