Delta CEO Calls Mandatory Covid Testing for Flights ‘A Horrible Idea’

The CEO of Delta Air Lines spoke out against the idea of requiring mandatory coronavirus tests for passengers on domestic flights in the United States on Tuesday.
“I think it would be a horrible idea for a lot of reasons,” Ed Bastian told a reporter on CNN in the course of an interview.

Delta Reports Record Loss of $12.4 Billion in 2020

Delta Air Lines announced financial results for fourth quarter of 2020 as well as for the calendar year.
The Atlanta-based carrier posted a net loss of $12.4 billion in 2020 amidst the coronavirus pandemic-induced decline in travel.  The airline also reported a $755 million net loss in the fourth quarter compared with a $1.1 billion profit in the same period in 2019.

Delta Selects Viasat for Single-Aisle Jet In-Flight Wi-Fi

Delta Air Lines said Tuesday that it selected Viasat’s Ka-band satellite in-fight Wi-Fi solution for its narrow-body fleet of aircraft.
The fleet includes Airbus A321ceos, Boeing 767-900ERs, and Boeing 757-200 aircraft.
The action will help the airline “modernize how customers stay connected and enjoy content” in flight, it said.

Delta, WestJet to Sell 11 767s to Amazon Air

Delta Air Lines and WestJet announced the sale of a total of 11 Boeing 767-300 aircraft to Amazon.
The deal includes four from WestJet and seven from Delta.
All 11 planes will become part of the Amazon Air fleet. Amazon Air, formerly Amazon Prime Air, is the company’s in-house cargo carrier.

Two passengers, accompanied by a dog, opened an emergency exit on a Delta aircraft that was on taxi and went down the emergency slide on Monday.
