EU Launches Antitrust Probe of Delta/Air France-KLM Joint Venture

European antitrust regulators announced a new investigation into pricing and capacity pacts between Air France-KLM, Alitalia, and Delta Air Lines on Friday.  The European Commission, which is responsible for regulation competition in the European Union, is concerned that these deals could violate EU antitrust laws.
“The goal is to ensure that this tie-up does not harm passengers on EU-U.S. routes,” the commission said in a written statement.

SkyTeam announced it would offer SkyPriority services to its best customers from all alliance member airlines.
The services include priority check-in areas, priority baggage drop-off, priority lines at security checkpoints, priority boarding, and priority baggage handling.  The first airports to receive SkyPriority services are Amsterdam, Atlanta, Guangzhou, Nairobi, Shanghai, and Taipei.  Eligible passengers include those who are SkyTeam Elite Plus as well as business- and first-class passengers.

SkyTeam Opens Shared Check-In Facility at Beijing Capital International Airport

The SkyTeam alliance has opened a new shared check-in area at Beijing Capital International Airport’s Terminal 2.
Airlines operating from the new area include alliance members Aeroflot, Air France, Alitalia, China Southern, China Eastern, Delta Air Lines, KLM, Korean Air, and Vietnam Airlines.
The new facility, China’s first such shared check-in area, features 60 check-in desks, including special counters for premium passengers.
