Delta Makes 4% Investment in Aeromexico

Delta, the second largest airline in the U.S., has invested $65 million into Grupo Aeromexico. This solidifies the largest airline alliance in the Mexico-U.S. market.
The investment is the first time a global airline has bought into a Mexican national carrier. As part of the investment, Delta now has a seat on the Grupo Aeromexico board of directors.

Delta has announced plans to add flights from New York’s LaGuardia and JFK airports to ten destinations in Bermuda, the Caribbean, and Florida. The new service will launch starting in late 2012.

Delta to Add Boeing 717 Aircraft to its Fleet

As part of its domestic fleet restructuring plan, Delta Airlines announced it will add 88 Boeing 717 aircraft to its fleet starting in 2013.  The aircraft will be leased from Southwest Airlines and will replace 50-seat regional jets and some older DC-9 aircraft.
Once in the Delta fleet, the aircraft will be equipped with 12 first-class seats, 15 Economy Comfort seats, and 83 seats in the main cabin.
