Coronavirus Facts and Figures: Friday, July 31, 2020 –  Four States Break Single-Day Record for New Virus Cases

The number of coronavirus cases across the globe now stands at 17.59 million, an increase of over 287,000 people over the past 24 hours.  Out of this, 11 million have recovered, based on data compiled by Worldometer, a service that aggregates and makes available world statistics. The death toll now stands at 678,911.
The number of daily deaths was 6,427 on Thursday and 6,998 on Wednesday.

United Airlines to Restart Flights to China

United Airlines said it would resume its service from San Francisco International Airport to Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport on July 8, 2020.
The airline will operate the service, which will include a stop in Seoul, using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on Wednesdays and Saturdays.  Return flights will operate on Thursdays and Sundays.

Delta Air Lines said had received permission from the Chinese government  to restart its service to Shanghai from both Seattle and Detroit, with two weekly flights from each hub.
The Civil Aviation Administration of China said Monday it would allow U.S. airlines to operate four weekly flights to the country.  In addition, the provincial Shanghai government gave Delta permission to restart its service to Shanghai.

U.S. to Suspend Flights to Country by Chinese Airlines

The U.S. Department of Transportation said it would bar passenger flights from China operated by Chinese airlines.
The order applies to four Chinese airlines – namely Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines and Hainan Airlines – that have continued to fly between the two countries during the pandemic, albeit at reduced levels. The order is slated to go into effect on June 16, 2020.
