Air Canada Cancels Flights, Gets Injunction After Strike

A wildcat strike that had forced Air Canada to delay or cancel dozens of flights has ended after the airline obtained a court injunction requiring striking ground workers at airports in Toronto and Montreal to return to work.

Air Canada, a member of the Star Alliance, has announced that it has received notice from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) that the union workers intend to go out on strike, beginning Monday, March 12 at 12:01 a.m.
IAMAW represents Air Canada’s baggage handlers, mechanics and cargo agents in Canada. The union had rejected a tentative agreement that had resulted from federal mediation.
