Trump International Hotel in Vancouver Closes Amidst Bankruptcy Filing

The Trump International Hotel in Vancouver closed its doors after just three years and its operator filed for bankruptcy.
Citing the drop in demand in travel amidst the coronavirus pandemic, the operator, TA Hotel Management Partnership, filed for bankruptcy protection on Thursday, according to court papers.
“Its ongoing expenses since the outbreak of Covid-19 and lack of revenue has placed TAHMLP into a position of insolvency,” the company said on its website.

WestJet announced plans to lay off 24% of its workforce, or 3,333 employees, as the coronavirus pandemic continues to decimate air travel.
The Calgary-based airline had 14,000 employees before the pandemic struck. Border closures and travel restrictions have grounded two-thirds of its fleet, the airline said.
