Air Canada Rouge to Launch Seasonal Vancouver-Palm Springs Flights

Air Canada rouge, a regional subsidiary of Air Canada, announced it will begin non-stop seasonal service between Vancouver and Palm Springs, California, on December 18.  The service will run through April 12 of next year, and will operate three times a week using Airbus A319 aircraft.

Alaska Airlines announced it plans to add 27 new daily flights out of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport by next spring, including six by the end of this year.  The additional flights will represent an 11% increase in daily departures for the airline from Seattle.

California’s Department of Motor Vehicles announced that it promulgated rules that permit the testing of autonomous vehicles on public roads in the state.  The rules go into effect September 16 of this year.

Passenger Traffic at Los Angeles Airport Up 6% in Q1

Los Angeles International Airport announced operational results for the first quarter of 2014.
Total passenger traffic at the airport increased nearly 6% in Q1 year-over-year.  International passenger volume was 4.3 million, up 7.5% from 4 million in Q1 2013, while domestic traffic rose 5% to 11.6 million.

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop order Wednesday afternoon that impacted three airports in the Los Angeles area.  The order went into effect at 2:00 p.m. local time and was lifted at 4:30 p.m.

Plans to build and operate a San Diego-Tijuana International Airport cross-border airport terminal received final approval and construction should begin shortly, officials said last week.
