The daily coronavirus death toll in the United States appears to be in decline, following in lockstep with a drop in the number of new infections and fewer hospitalizations. The death toll is a lagging indicator and those figures began to drop in January.  The United States has reported under 100,000 new coronavirus cases for the past three days and the seven-day average has fallen 50% since peaking on January 8.
