Hyatt Hotels announced on Monday the opening of the Grand Hyatt at San Francisco International Airport.

Los Angeles Airport to End Curbside Pickup for Uber and Lyft

Los Angeles International Airport will ban ride-hailing companies from picking up passengers outside its terminals, airport officials said Thursday.
Drop-offs will still be permitted, however.
Arriving passengers will have to take a shuttle bus to a parking lot adjacent to Terminal 1 in order to meet their Uber or Lyft drivers, the airport said.  The new procedure will go into effect on or about October 29.

Fairmont Hotel in San Jose Evacuated After Chemical Used in Suicide Sickens Guests, Employees

The Fairmont San Jose hotel in downtown San Jose, California, was partially evacuated after chemicals used in an apparent suicide sent several people to the hospital.
Hotel workers found a woman dead in a room on the 19th floor shortly before 10 a.m. and detected a chemical odor. Police and firefighters responded to the scene and assisted with the evacuation.

A disgruntled employee at the Long Beach Marriott in California was arrested on charges of planning a mass shooting that would have included coworkers and guests at the property, city police said.
The employee, Rodolfo Montoya, was turned in by colleagues at the hotel after he told one coworker of his unhappiness with a human-resources issue and related his plans to retaliate by shooting guests and other employees at the hotel.

Southwest Airlines announced plans to add service from Sacramento to Honolulu early next year as well as new non-stop service between both Oakland and San Jose to both Kauai and the Island of Hawaii.
