LOT Polish Airlines Reports Profit

LOT Polish Airlines swung back into the black in the first eight months of 2014. The financial results achieved are in line with the restructuring plan approved by the European Commission in July 2014.
The airline reported better than expected results of PLN 100 million ($30.9 million) compared to the same period of 2013. In a statement, LOT said it is seeking to achieve “sustainable profitability.”

Delta Air Lines announced operational results for August 2014.  The Atlanta-based airline reported that its passenger revenue per available seat mile, or Prasm, for the month increased by 2% as compared to August 2013.  Delta said the increase was driven mainly by growth in its domestic operations.

Virgin America announced financial results for the second quarter of 2014.  The airline’s operating profit in the second quarter was $36.983 million, a significant year-over-year increase of over 400% from $8.849 million in the second quarter of 2013.
