Starwood announced the opening the Aloft Guangzhou University Park in China.  The property is located in the center of Xiaoguwei Island on the Pearl River in southeast Guangzhou.

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts announced the opening of a new property in Johannesburg, South Africa. The Four Seasons Hotel the Westcliff, Johannesburg occupies the former Westcliff Hotel, and underwent a $56 million redevelopment to become a Four Seasons property.

Marriott announced the opening of JW Marriott Houston Downtown hotel in Texas. The property occupies the 104-year-old Samuel F. Carter Building, and is the second JW Marriot to open in the city.
