Hilton to Offer Food and Beverage Credit to Gold and Diamond Members

Hilton Worldwide announced a new elite benefit for diamond and gold members of its Hilton Honors guest-loyalty program.
The hotelier will offer such guests a food and beverage credit during their stays in lieu of the complimentary breakfast it traditionally offers.  The chain did not yet specify the amount of the credit, however, although it will start in July and be in effect through the remainder of 2021.

The oneworld Alliance announced the appointment of Qatar Airways Group Executive Akbar Al Baker to the position of chairman of the governing board.
Mr. Al Baker succeeds Alan Joyce, CEO of Qantas Group, who had served as chairman since September 2018. Prior to becoming CEO of Qatar Airways, he worked at the Civil Aviation Directorate of Qatar and also served as the CEO of the Qatar Tourism Authority.

United Airlines to Restart Non-Stop Service Linking Manchester, N.H. and D.C.

United Airlines said Thursday that it will resume its non-stop service from Manchester-Boston Regional Airport to Washington Dulles International Airport.
The flights had been paused amidst the coronavirus pandemic-induced decline in travel.
The date for the flights to resume is June 3 and the airline will operate two flights a day and add a third flight at some point in July.

European Union to Reopen to Vaccinated Travelers

The European Union will reopen its borders to visitors who have been fully vaccinated with an approved shot, the European Commission, the bloc’s governing body, announced Wednesday.
Visitors from a list of countries considered safe from a coronavirus perspective will also be permitted.
The move follows a meeting of ambassadors from the 27 member states, who endorsed a proposal by the European Commission. It follows closures that have lasted over one year.

United Airlines said it plans to operate 80% of its U.S. schedule in July as compared to the same month in 2019.  Compared to June 2021, it will increase its domestic network by 17%.
