CDC Drops Mask Mandate for Vaccinated Individuals in ‘Outdoor Areas’ of Public Transportation

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said it plans to amend its face mask rules so that individuals who are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus no longer have to don face masks in outdoor areas of public transportation.
The CDC said it will not “require people to wear a mask in outdoor areas of conveyances (if such outdoor areas exist on the conveyance) or while outdoors at transportation hubs.”

United Could Order 100 Boeing 737 Max Aircraft, 100 Airbus A321neo

United Airlines is reportedly in talks to purchase 200 single-aisle aircraft in an order split between Airbus and Boeing.
If confirmed, the deal would include at least 100 168-seat Boeing 737 MAX 8 jetliners and up to 100 of the 200-seat A321neo aircraft, according to multiple media reports.

Canadian low-cost carrier WestJet announced that its current CEO, Ed Sims, will retire at the end of the year.
“Ed has led WestJet through the worst crisis in aviation history and will see us through to the end of 2021,” said Chris Burley, the airline’s board chairman. “We owe our relative strength and stability in no small measure to Ed’s leadership and steady hand.”

CDC Updates Travel Recommendations for 110 Countries, Moving Dozens to ‘Recommended’ for Vaccinated Individuals

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced significant changes to travel recommendations for over 110 countries.
The action moves Japan and 60 other countries from the CDC’s most severe level, “Level 4,” which discouraged all travel, to a level where travel is recommended for fully vaccinated individuals.
“Avoid travel to these destinations,” the CDC guidance for Level 4 reads.

New York State will end most of its Covid-19 restrictions once 70% of the state’s population has had at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine.
