American Airlines and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport announced that the two parties have entered into a new ten-year “use and lease” agreement that calls for $4.8 billion in capital investments.

The scope of work includes the construction of a new, additional terminal, Terminal F, the renovation of Terminal C, a major expansion of gates at both Terminals A and C, and other modernization projects.

The airline and airport termed the agreement the start of “a new era of growth and innovation for the world’s second-busiest airport.”

DFW, American’s main and largest hub, serves as a gateway to many international destinations.  American is the world’s largest carrier.

The new $1.63 billion Terminal F will feature a 15-gate concourse.  The two parties are budgeting $2.72 billion for a major “reimagining” of Terminal C, the gate expansions, and upgrades to roadways and terminal access.
