InterContinental Hotels & Resorts announced multiple changes to its IHG Rewards guest loyalty program. The changes include a new elite tier and the company said it planned to completely relaunch the program later in 2022.

The hotelier is introducing a new Gold Elite tier that members would qualify for at the 20-night stay mark.

In addition, the Spire Elite tier was renamed Diamond Elite, apparently for consistency with other industry programs.

“Travel is its own biggest reward, and that’s really at the heart of what we’re doing with our loyalty program,” said the company’s CEO, Keith Barr. “These changes are just the start as we prepare to fully relaunch a truly transformed program later this year.”

Members began to earn points towards the new elite tier starting at the beginning of the year.
