American and JetBlue’s Northeast Alliance Adds 6 Flights, Increases Frequency of 21 Others

American Airlines and JetBlue Airways announced six new routes and additional frequencies in 21 markets in the United States as part of their Northeast Alliance.

The Northeast Alliance was launched in February of this year.

The two carriers also said they were expanding their current codeshare agreement at John F. Kennedy International Airport to include 185 routes, with American placing its code on 70 JetBlue routes and JetBlue placing its code on 115 of American’s.

The alliance partners said they will have 300 daily departures from JFK by next summer.

The new flights, which will begin in June, will be operated using Embraer 175 regional jets.

JetBlue is then adding one new route, namely daily service from New York’s LaGuardia Airport to Portland, Maine.  The Portland service will launch on July 9.

In addition to the new routes, the two airlines will increase the frequency of flights to 21 markets next year.

The list of routes that will see this increase include flights linking New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport to 11 destinations including Aruba, Atlanta, Cancun, Detroit, Minneapolis, Kingston, and Saint Lucia, as well as nine destinations served by LaGuardia Airport, including Charleston, Nashville, New Orleans, and Savannah.

Finally, flights from Boston to Baltimore and Washington’s Reagan National Airport will see an increase in frequency as well.
