Fraport AG, the operator of Frankfurt Airport, announced traffic figures for the airport for the third quarter of 2021.

Revenue for the period was €633.8 million, a 79.5% increase compared to €353.1 million in the same period in 2020.

“Following the massive losses experienced in 2020 and the resulting sharp rise in debt, we are now seeing brighter prospects ahead,” said Fraport’s CEO, Stefan Schulte, who added that “[D]emand for holiday travel during the summer months was relatively strong.

Passenger traffic at Frankfurt Airport for the period was approximately 2.5 million travelers, a 2.2% year-over-year decline.

In addition, its contracts to operate Frankfurt Airport, Fraport, which was founded in 1924 as Südwestdeutsche Luftverkehrs AG, has stakes ranging from 10% to 100% in nine airport management concerns in countries ranging from Greece to India, Peru, Russia, and Slovenia.
