United Airlines announced it was working with PayPal and would accept PayPal QR codes on select flights for in-flight purchases of drinks and snacks.

The QR codes will allow purchases to be processed with or without Wi-Fi present on board.

Passengers who have already downloaded the PayPal app and set a preferred payment method for QR codes merely have to click “Pay with QR codes” in the app, followed by clicking the “In-flight Purchase” button.

United said it is the first airline to offer PayPal QR codes as a payment method for in-flight purchases.
