Alaska Airlines announced plans for the introduction of a new elite tier in its Mileage Plan frequent-flyer program, MVP Gold 100K.

MVP Gold 100K would require a Mileage Plan member to reach 100,000 qualifying miles with Alaska, a oneworld airline, or a global airline partner of Alaska, or 140 eligible segments.

The new tier will be introduced in January 2022.

Mileage Plan MVP Gold 100K members will receive the same oneworld status as MVP Gold 75K members, namely Emerald.   In addition, they will earn 150% in elite bonus miles versus 125% for MVP Gold 75K.

Flight benefits will largely be the same as MVP Gold 75K except that MVP Gold 100K members will receive two one-way international upgrade certificates on American Airlines instead of only one and, when traveling in coach, MVP Gold 100K members will receive a snack as well as a complimentary beverage instead of merely just the beverage.

Airport and service benefits for MVP Gold 100K members are indistinguishable from those at the MVP Gold 75K level as well, although the airline promises that it will add new perks.

“Look for additional MVP Gold 100K perks to be introduced later in 2022, for the 2023 program year,” the airline said in a statement on its website.
