The Transportation Security Administration said that 2.1 million people had traversed the nation’s airport security checkpoints Sunday, a pandemic-era high.

That figure topped the recent pandemic high set the preceding Friday when two million people were screened by the TSA.

While travel is up, it is not yet at pre-pandemic levels.  The record set Sunday was still 545,000 fewer people compared with the same day in 2019.

Over the recent Memorial Day holiday weekend, Friday set a pandemic high with 1.95 million and Monday, at the close of the holiday, saw 1.9 million travelers.
